I have been working at Jostle Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Highly autonomous and collaborative environment. Lots of freedom and generally a fun place to work. Management clearly values employees as individuals. We get regular one-on-one feedback from superiors. Diverse friendly and inclusive environment.

    Cons

The freedom and autonomy work well for many people, but for those who would prefer more direct hands on management or need a lot of direction, this may leave them feeling unsure of how to focus their efforts. I am responsible for deciding how to prioritize my own work. My task list can be quite long sometimes and so I have to know what's most important to focus on first. Knowing how and when to step back from a set of smaller tasks and take on a larger problem that will fix all of them at once in some cases is important.

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Jostle Corporation (Vancouver, BC) in May 2019.

    Interview

A quick phone call to setup, then a video meeting with 5 members of their team. During the interview their team members were sharp to make assumptions, often cut me off mid sentence, and were quite rude when I struggled to answer their questions. One went as far as laughing at my response and telling me "that is definitely not true" when I told him about the power requirements for a previous job and told him the specifications (ones that can be looked up online!). They raved about their company culture and how great it was (ego was definitely present) and talked about how far their company had come. The interview closed with their team reviewing my resume, asking why I may be a viable candidate, and friendly good-byes.

    Interview Questions

    • What coding practices did you follow in the past?
What gitlab practices did you follow in the past?
[ followed up with what possible problems may that strategy introduce]
Many technical questions about previous job experience from my resume.   1 Answer
