We say it how it is

We believe in professional integrity. We are reliable, open and trustworthy, and we are undivided in this behaviour. This approach has earned us the respect of our colleagues, clients, partners and investors and has made us the business we are today.

We make it happen

We’re pioneers and innovators – a team of adaptable, agile and passionate people. We have a ‘can-do’ attitude, approaching every day with energy and enthusiasm. We seize every opportunity that arises to provide solutions for our clients, careers for our people and to drive our business forward.

Unique from other graduate development programs, the FDM model eliminates the catch-22 experienced by many of today’s graduates: qualifications without industry experience. By offering training combined with commercial experience, FDM will prepare you for a successful and defined career in IT or business.

The FDM Careers Program is a fantastic opportunity to kick-start your career in IT and business. As a successful candidate, your award-winning training will take place in our state-of-the-art Academy in Toronto. Upon completion of your training, (full-time for approximately 8-16 weeks), you will progress to become a professional IT or business consultant working on-site with one or more of our prestigious clients for a minimum of two years.

As an FDM consultant, you will be given the opportunity to work on exciting and current projects and gain instrumental industry experience. FDM consultants go on to work on engaging projects like fingerprint technology, facial recognition systems, supporting investment banking platforms and testing mobile banking applications.

After fulfilling the two-year commitment representing FDM on client sites, the sky is the limit. You may choose to continue as a senior FDM consultant and take advantage of the versatility of the role, or will have the opportunity to transfer to a client on a permanent basis.

How can I apply?

You can apply on our website. We accept applications on a rolling basis year-round.

What is an IT or Business Consultant?

Consultants represent FDM on client sites, working on specific projects either as part of an outsourced team or to supplement an existing one. Consultants are relocated to client centres for a contracted amount of time to work on a variety of IT and business assignments. Consultancy is a flexible career as projects can range from a few months to years depending on its size. This can lead to opportunities for travel and a variety of challenging and exciting assignments with a range of clients. FDM consultants are employed by FDM to provide professional business and IT consultancy to our clients for a minimum of two years.

Will I have to pay for my training?

In FDM's North American centres, you become an FDM employee from day one and will be paid throughout the duration of your training, which is fully funded by FDM in exchange for your commitment to work with us as a consultant for a minimum of two years.

Is it essential for me to have an IT degree?

No. We accept a range of degrees such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering and Electronics. Business, Economics and other degrees are also considered, especially for our Project Management, Business Analysis and IT Service Management streams.

When will I be paid a salary?

In our North American offices, you become a paid employee with FDM on your first day of training in our Careers Program. This policy varies in other FDM locations.

How can I prepare to succeed in an interview with FDM?

A few insider tips from our recruiters on how to excel in an interview or FDM Assessment Day:

  • Dress smartly (business attire – suit/tie) – A first impression counts for a lot, so make it a good one
  • Always be on time – Trial run the journey before the day so you know your route
  • Be positive and energetic – Demonstrate that you really want the job
  • Research the company – The more research you do, the more confident you will be

Overall, FDM seeks ambitious individuals who will thrive in an engaging and inspiring workplace. Your interview should demonstrate that you have the drive and motivation to excel in the fast-paced IT and business world.

What happens after I complete my training?

After you successfully complete your training you will be available for placement with FDM clients. Once selected for placement, you start your two-year commitment to work with FDM as a consultant. During these two years, you could be placed on one or more of our client sites.

Where will my client placements be?

The majority of placements are in Toronto and Montreal. It is requried, however, that you be geographically flexible for placement throughout Canada in order to maximize your opportunities. With growing client demand, FDM will expand into other major Canadian cities over the coming years.

What happens at the end of the two years?

You have a number of options to progress your career further within the IT sector. You will still be an FDM employee working for an award-winning company. However, you are no longer contractually bound to remain with the company and can pursue other avenues if you prefer, such as transitioning into permanent employment with a client you have been placed with. FDM continues to provide our senior consultants with demanding and fulfilling technical placements. They also have the option of pursuing roles internally. No matter how you choose to progress your career, you will have two years of excellent experience gained through the highly reputable FDM Careers Program.
