I wanted to apply for credit cards to get bonus points. My credit scores are 799 with equifax and 798 with TransUnion. Have 4 hard inquiries still on the record. My application for the amazon credit card got declined last March when my score was a bit lower and got ~6 hard inquiries. Personally I think it sucks that we won't find out if the credit card application is accepted or declined until the credit is hard pulled. Is there a more reliable way to be sure of the application being accepted?

Does anyone know of the “the work number” service offered by Equifax? I just found out that this service provides referral artifacts related to employees e.g. computer generated letters/details of employment and income history etc. How is Equifax able to obtain this information? I don’t recall authorizing anyone except my employer to hold this information. Equifax seems to have detailed info, especially income info, for all past employers too. I wonder if future employers can access this info

I applied online. I interviewed at Equifax (Saint Louis, MO) in Oct 2021
InterviewThe interview process took about a month and lasted 5 rounds. The first round was with an internal recruiter. I was then sent to a hiring manager for a different position that did not even work in the same department as the position I originally applied for. The hiring manager called me and explained this new position in detail and even though I did not meet all the qualifications it seemed like it could be a good fit once I got started on the job. I then had a video interview with the hiring manager. Everything went well and she told me I was a strong candidate. Later that evening I get an email asking me to create a marketing strategy for a hypothetical product. I spent around 12-15 hours on this presentation and did everything that was asked. I then had another video interview with the hiring manager to present my strategy. She said it was exactly what she was looking for, but suggested I add more market data before presenting it to her boss. It was disheartening to learn there was yet another step. Nevertheless, I added the additional data and got ready to present again. To my surprise, not only was the hiring manager’s boss on the call but so was the team I would be working with, which they all looked like they would rather be anywhere else. The second round of my presentation appeared to go well, but I was surprised again when I was asked next to no questions about it. Instead, I was asked about my organizational experience. I explained how I stay organized in my current role, but my approach was unacceptable to them. I expressed my willingness to learn their system and software, but the interview went south quickly. This was an issue that should have been brought up in the first couple of meetings if it was a make or break, not in the final interview. They completely ghosted me after this and that is fine because an offer would have been rejected anyway. I received a generic email about a week later saying they moved on to other candidates. I suspect I was on the last step, but I am not sure. There may have been more rounds. This was a very unprofessional experience and, unfortunately, a complete waste of time.
