Our Team

At its heart, ours is a search-engineering business. Our culture and how we work are shaped by our foundation in open source and the fact that we’ve been a global, distributed company from day one. Our Products

We are passionate about customer success and great user experience, and spend a lot of time engaging with users of our stack. In order to see the big picture, we keep a pulse on the latest market and competitive developments, help drive pricing/packaging, and closely track product adoption KPIs. But when it comes to product delivery, we love being hands-on and to dive deep. We strive to be the first users of the features that we build, and define our success by how much our customers love our products.

Constant (Engineering) Support

Support engineers are unique creatures — part MacGyver, part Grace Hopper, and part Himalayan Sherpa. We are always ready and willing to guide our customers to success. Our greatest strength, when working with customers, is the human connection we build based on trust and understanding.

Our support team stays on top of everything that's changing across the Elastic Stack, curating best practices that can be helpful to the novice and expert alike.

Our Teams Are Global

Some of your colleagues may be right next door, while others are halfway around the world. Whether you’re in Engineering or Legal, you’ll have teammates who have different perspectives and unique approaches for tackling challenges. We believe this makes us better at creating thoughtful, holistic solutions.

Our Source Code is Us

What makes Elastic, Elastic? Great question. Articulating the answer started with a blank document (the new-age napkin, really) in a Tokyo bar followed by more thought, introspection, and iteration. What resulted was a set of ideas rather than a statement of corporate values to keep us honest as we go about our business.

Life Happens While We Work

Working across time zones and often from our homes, life happens in the background while we have meetings and catch up on email. This might mean a kid on your lap as you give a demo from the couch, a dog playing fetch beside your desk, or a partner banging the pots and pans in the background while making dinner. At Elastic, this doesn’t faze us. We’re not just family friendly, we’re life-friendly.

Elastic Cares

Elastic cares. A whole lot. Our philanthropic team aims to maximize and support Elasticians efforts in contributing to the causes that matter most to them. We offer discounted software for non-profit organizations, match donations, and provide paid time off for volunteering — the goal is to recognize that participating in these sorts of activities can inspire and enrich our lives in unexpected ways.

Helper Nodes

We believe in giving back, supporting the communities in which we live and work, and to recognize that participating in these sorts of activities can inspire and enrich our lives in unexpected ways. Being that we are a global community, we also understand that community is not defined as just local community, but may encompass a global perspective.

    Pros

Great visionary CEO that really cares about the company and employees. This is reflected in a very positive and caring culture.
Very strong leadership team, resulting in great processes, policies and teams.
    Distributed, remote-friendly international team.

    Cons

Company has been growing quickly, so there are some growing pains around coordination and data flows. Remote work gives you freedom to work when and how you want, but that requires a lot of self-discipline.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing a great job!

    Application

The process took 4+ months. I interviewed at Elastic.

    Interview

I had a total of 5 interviews via Zoom. First interview was with the recruiter, the next three were with a team member and stakeholders, and the last one with the hiring manager. The interview process took approximately a month, however it wasn't for another two months that I heard that I was not a successful candidate despite multiple follow ups. I will say, that while I thought the interview process was very smooth, it was disappointing to see a few things post-interview:
-The decline said that the position was given to an internal candidate. For a tech company to lack the awareness that everyone is active on LinkedIn, I can assure you that it was given to an external candidate. I'm not sure why the fib?
-Once I had received the decline, I reached out to the recruiter to ask for feedback as I was actively looking for a job and would have appreciated some constructive feedback as to my abilities. Never received a reply.
-Two days later I received a survey about the interview process which left a bad taste in my mouth. Especially after having a lag of a couple of months between the last interview and the decline, not receiving any feedback, etc.
