We were the first of the “Drakes” founded in Canada over 65 years ago. Drake International is a global Human Resource solutions leader with over 65 years of experience in the industry. Why Use a Recruitment Firm?
As a job seeker, it is free to use the services of a recruitment firm. It is the client who pays the recruitment firm. You get help for free!
Ever heard of the 80/20 rule as it relates to finding new opportunities? The rule suggests that only 20% of jobs are actually posted on job boards, 80% of jobs companies hire for are never posted. Recruitment firms have access to a wide variety of job opportunities that may never get posted. By browsing websites of various recruitment firms, you can determine what types of positions they offer and if they can help you meet your objectives.
The goal of a recruitment consultant is to place you in a role that is the right fit for you, and company. Recruiters often have great knowledge of the job market, what industries or job types have more openings and what some realistic expectations could be for your job search. They can guide you through an interview process and advice how best to negotiate a great employment offer/salary.

How you can help:
Perfect your Elevator Pitch:
This will not only help a recruiter position you in an opportunity that is in line with your career trajectory, but this will also help you to pitch yourself in an interview. Know your greatest assets and weaknesses.
Be honest about your expectations and experience, the more honest you are the better equipped a recruitment firm is to find you a great role. The recruiter needs to feel confident about you as they are presenting you to their client.
Have your resume updated, have references ready and make time to be available for job interviews. Read about how to respond to interview questions and practice answers for typical questions.
Keep in mind recruitment firms often deal with many different types of companies and roles. If one opportunity doesn’t work out, make sure you are proactive and follow up.

I have been working at Drake International full-time (More than a year)
- Offers many services & products to clients (differentiate from other recruitment firms)
- Great work life balance
- Positive & encouraging area manager
- Forward thinking CEO who is implementing changes throughout the organization
- Technology upgrades implemented slowly (but are being upgraded)
- Corporate overhead is inflated
Advice to Management
- Don't fall behind in technology... once we lose that edge it is hard to climb our way back up
I applied in-person. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Drake International.
Resume submission, telephone interview, computer testing, criminal record check, credit check, background check, skill testing, behavioural screening, in-person (panel) interviews... quite an intensive process.
