Diageo is a global leader in beverage alcohol with iconic brands in spirits, beer and wine. We provide consumers with choice and quality across categories and price points.
Diageo has built a strong platform for growth through investing in our brands and route to consumer. Over the last five years we have made acquisitions in brands and local distribution while doubling the size of our luxury business. We have also made changes to our operating model and culture aligning Diageo behind the need for greater agility and responsiveness, creating a business that is closer to the consumer.
Our 21 market model has established strong local business units, well positioned to win in increasingly competitive and fast paced operating environments.
We know that we must earn the trust and respect of everyone that comes into contact with our company. We must be transparent and authentic, demonstrating good citizenship every day, everywhere.
We produce our brands from more than 200 sites in over 30 countries. We are committed to efficient, sustainable production to the highest quality standards. Our export-led International Supply Centre (ISC) employs over 4,000 people across more than 55 sites in Scotland, England, Ireland, Italy and the Netherlands.
We invest in world-class marketing to build our brands, focusing on connecting with existing and new consumers. For decades our brands have been at the forefront of marketing innovation and the same remains true today. We take seriously our obligations to market responsibly and help consumers make informed decisions.
Innovation is critical to our continued growth. We are committed to finding breakthrough innovations to serve customers and consumers. We identify emerging trends, and boldly innovate at scale. Innovation is a permanent engine of growth for our business and we are restless in our search for new products.
Everyone at Diageo sells or understands how they can help sell. This is just one expression of the sales-led organisation we are building. In each of our 21 markets, we are passionate about ensuring our products are available where consumers want them. We work to deliver amazing consumer experiences and to extend our sales reach.
Our success as a business depends on the success of our people. So we make sure that we create an environment where all our employees feel included and able to perform at their best.
We have a culture where success is celebrated, no matter how big or small. We trust each other and value openess and honesty in our working relationships. As an example, look at our performance management process, Partners for Growth. This programme provides opportunities for everyone in Diageo to share their broader goals in life and supports them in exploring and harnessing their unique strengths at work.
More generally we recognise that our employees have commitments away from the workplace and encourage working patterns that balance home life and career. We also aim to attract and maintain a diverse employee base with a wide variety of individual characteristics, perspectives and experiences in every part of our business.
These are the Values we live and work by. There are five of them, and they’re at the heart of our business:
curiosity and consumer insights drive our growth. We cherish our brands; we are creative and courageous in pursuing their full potential. We are innovative, constantly searching for new ideas.
we seek and benefit from diverse people and perspectives. We strive to create mutually fulfilling relationships and partnerships.
we trust each other, we are open and seek challenge, and we respond quickly to the opportunities this creates.
and how we do it – we behave responsibly with the highest standards of integrity.
we are always learning, always improving. We set high standards, we stretch to exceed them and we celebrate success.
Every year we conduct an employee Values Survey, which gives us valuable information on the ways and degrees in which our Values are being demonstrated individually and across the company.
People celebrate with our brands – and by doing so become a link in a chain that connects rivers and fields, vineyards, distilleries and breweries, transport networks, the hospitality industry, and the people who work and live around us.
Our Sustainability & Responsibility (S&R) Strategy encompasses the actions Diageo takes each day, and every day, to support every link in this chain. We call this celebrating life, today and tomorrow. Putting the principles of sustainability and responsibility into practice means accounting for our most material social and environmental impacts in every aspect of what we do - from sourcing raw materials, to running our manufacturing safely and efficiently, to influencing how our brands are sold and consumed.
Diageo's Performance Ambition is to create the best performing, most trusted and respected consumer products company in the world. Our distilleries, breweries and wineries are at the very heart of the communities in which we work, and we have a responsibility to create shared value – for our shareholders, our people who work so hard to make our business successful, and for the wider society that enables our business to flourish and grow. To fulfil our ambition we know that we must earn the trust and respect of everyone that comes into contact with our company. We must be transparent and authentic, demonstrating good citizenship every day, everywhere. We only earn trust and respect through our actions, and we work hard to ensure that Diageo delivers on its promises.
There are six main priorities that make up our Sustainability & Responsibility Strategy:
We have targets in some of these areas, and report against progress in our Annual Report. Our 2020 targets
With our current targets expiring in 2015, and in anticipation of the 2015 UN Climate Change Conference and other external factors, we evaluated the strengths and weaknesses of our strategy in light of our track record of performance and the work we have done over the last few years in understanding the expectations and concerns of our stakeholders.
As a result, in December 2014, we launched ambitious targets for 2020 for our most material issues, which build on our achievements to date, and are aligned with the emerging UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Advice to Management
I applied online. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at Diageo (Amherstburg, ON) in September-2017.
I applied for the Controls Engineer role back in July. After 4 weeks, I got email from Diageo that they are discussing my application with the hiring manager. After 5 weeks, I got another email to setup my interviews. As I was not available for Physical interview, So I requested Diageo HR to conduct my interviews remotely. They were kind enough to accept my request and arranged time for my remote interviews.
After 10 weeks of applying, I had my 2 back to back interviews with the Hiring Manager and Human Resources Manager. The details of both interviews are as follows;
Hiring Manager Interview: The interview was very organized and professional. The outline of the interview was explained to me at the start of the interview by the hiring manager. There were some technical questions but most of the questions from Hiring manager were to test and see the Leadership, Management, Team Player and Presentation skills. For every question, I had to provide example from my previous industrial experience. At end, I was given time to ask questions. Through-out my interview, Hiring Manager made me feel comfortable and encouraged me to ask questions. The duration of the interview was strictly kept to the duration mentioned by the HR team during my interview appointment setup communication.
HR Manager Interview: Same outline was also followed by the HR manager and the interview was highly professional and organized. The duration of the time was strictly followed.
I was offered the job after 3 weeks of the interview date through Call which I accepted. I would like to mention here that I was kept updated about every step of my application processing through-out these 3 weeks which is very professional on Diageo's part.
I would also like to mention here that the HR of Diageo worked in highly professional way. They kept me updated about my application status from the date of my application to the day I was offered the job. In conclusion, I have to say that interviewing with Diageo has been my best experience of my professional life. I feel that I have made some special professional connections with the HR department of Diageo which will last a life-time !
