Canada's Investment Company
CI Investments has been managing money on behalf of Canadian investors since 1965. In 1981, CI entered the global fund arena with the introduction of CI Pacific Fund – one of the first funds in Canada devoted to Asian markets. The company became known for its expertise in foreign funds and adopted the name Canadian International Fund Management.
Over the years, CI expanded its lineup of funds to provide investors with an increasingly comprehensive offering of Canadian, global and industry funds. This growth was guided by a strategy of seeking the best available portfolio managers.
CI is a leader in innovation. The company was, for example, the first to offer tax-efficient funds with the introduction of CI Corporate Class. CI also was a leader in introducing industry funds and was the first mutual fund company to partner with an insurance company to offer segregated funds. In 2013, CI launched the G5|20 Series, which offers guaranteed cash flow over 20 years and is the first mutual fund of its kind in Canada.
In June 2005, CI adopted the name CI Investments to reflect its diverse lineup of investment options, including mutual funds, segregated funds, asset allocation programs, structured products and other alternative investments.
Today, CI Investments is one of Canada’s largest investment fund companies. About two million Canadians trust us to help realize their financial goals.
CI is proud to partner with financial advisors across Canada, who offer our funds to their clients. We believe investors are most successful when they follow a sound financial plan developed with the assistance of a qualified advisor.
CI is affiliated with two alternative asset management firms, Marret Asset Management Inc. (www.marret.com) and Lawrence Park Capital Partners, Ltd. (www.lpcapitalpartners.com).
CI also serves the institutional investment marketplace through a dedicated division, CI Institutional Asset Management, which is on the Web at www.ciinstitutional.com.
CI is a subsidiary of CI Financial Corp., which is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol CIX. Information about CI Financial’s assets and financial position is updated monthly and is available by visiting theStatistics section.
Hailing from diverse backgrounds, our employees bring a wide range of experience and skill sets to CI. Some are new to the financial services industry, while others have built their careers around it.
The culture at CI Financial is a product of an integrated and communicative environment that supports the employee experience personally and professionally.
CI’s administrative office space was designed with our employees in mind. A friendly game of pool or ping pong, catching the latest sporting event on one of our big screen TVs, or enjoying some time on our unique rooftop patio to take in the Lake Ontario view are all every day happenings here. And, our main Toronto office is conveniently located steps from Toronto’s Union Station.
Over the years, we have organized a variety of fun events to give employees a chance to interact socially with colleagues across the company, to get to know each other better.
Some of our popular events include:
I have been working at CI Financial full-time (More than a year)
Since joining CI Financial, I have loved every moment of coming to work each day. In my time with CI, I have been given much latitude to be creative, bring forth new and innovative business ideas, and assist/manage various projects. I receive excellent guidance from my superiors and get to work with a team who exhibits nothing but the upmost respect for one another.
CI is a place of great equality and offers many opportunities for growth and development. I’m very lucky to be a part of something so great.
I firmly believe that any cons CI may possess, senior management takes very seriously and works tireless to correct in order to better its employees and business as a whole.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at CI Financial (Toronto, ON) in February-2018.
I applied online after attending a career fair. The process was very professional and efficient(took about 3 weeks). I interviewed at CI Investments in downtown Toronto.
The HR coordinators were some of the most professional and they are super fast at responding any questions or concerns you have.
First a phone screening with an HR coordinator for about 20 minutes.
Then follow with an in-person interview with both the HR coordinator and one of the manager.
Last, a skill testing session regarding basic math/mutual fund knowledge.
Upon passing all three stages, a conditional offer was delivered; conditions being credit/background check, education verification, and references check.
The entire process was very organized and professional. The HR department was more than helpful and handled all the questions I have efficiently.
