Benevity – Why Work With Us?

Welcome to Benevity!

Our Culture

We’re incredibly proud that 92% of Benevity-ites say they’re likely or extremely likely to recommend Benevity as a great place to work.

We know everyone boasts about their great culture, but sometimes what they mean is that they have cool perks. We have those, too: no dress code, adorable pooches walking the halls, flexibility to step out for appointments or care for sick kids, pets and plants, on-site massage and acupuncture sessions and all the fancy milk substitutes you can think of (oat milk, anyone?).

But we believe workplace culture runs deeper than all that, and we’re helping shape the cultures of Fortune 1000 companies every day with our technology, so it’s important to us that we walk the walk.

So, what exactly is this Benevity culture? It’s…

Our people

We hire passionate, smart, authentic people who make us better every day, and the thing we hear again and again is that “the people here are the best I’ve ever worked with.”

Our transparent leadership

One of our people hit the nail on the head when they recently said, “what keeps me coming back is that I believe in our leadership. They’re not always right, but they’re always transparent and I keep believing in them.” From weekly face-time with our execs to a very open-door/open-email/open-chat “policy,” our leaders are as transparent as they come.

A place where you belong

We’ve worked hard to create a place where everyone can come to work as their authentic selves and have their voices heard. For Benevity, diversity isn’t just about checking boxes. It’s about ensuring that everyone feels seen, heard and celebrated—because we know that’s what makes both companies and people thrive.

Infinite possibilities

We’ve all worked for companies and people who were set in their ways and not willing to adapt, learn or grow, and that can make it hard to feel like you’re making an impact. We live by the mantra “there’s always better,” so we value diversity of thought and we want your ideas! One of our people described it best when he said “we’re not being asked to fit into a mold or even break the mold; we’re making the mold.”

It’s not every day you get to wake up knowing that the work you do could literally change the world—unless you work with us! Benevity has a unique purpose-driven culture, where doing good is baked into our DNA. From helping world-class companies (and millions of their employees and customers) move the needle on some of the world’s biggest problems to taking a couple of hours in the middle of the day to volunteer ourselves, our people are empowered every day to make a positive impact on the world.

Our Social Mission

Spreading Goodness in the world has a transformative power. It helps businesses engage their people in an authentic and meaningful way, creating a workplace culture that unifies people across offices and borders. It helps connect corporate values with communities in need to create real impact. And it creates measurable business results. We believe it’s possible for companies to achieve both profit and purpose, and Benevity’s technology helps make that a reality.

Internally, Benevity’s own corporate purpose is deeply embedded in our DNA. We never miss an opportunity to spread Goodness far and wide! We donate blood. We plant trees. We clean up garbage in our communities. And each of us support causes we personally care about with our dollars, time and everyday positive actions. Oh, and volunteer rewards and company matching dollars, provided to every employee, means the volunteering we do or donations we make have double the impact.

Being a B Corp

Benevity is proud to be a Registered B Corporation, meaning we’re a for-profit company with a social mission. Simply put, it means that doing good and fulfilling our purpose aren’t just nice ideas—they’re fundamental to our business and culture.

B Corps (learn more about them here: www.bcorporation.net) meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability, and aspire to use their reach and resources to solve social and environmental problems.

Benevity was one of the first B Corps in Canada, earning certification in 2011. Since then, we’ve committed to maintaining this higher standard, using the power of people and business to solve problems with purpose.

Our vision is that, soon, there will be no need for a separate category of “B Corporations” because every company will pursue hybrid goals of profit and purpose.

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Benevity (Calgary, AB) in November 2015.

    Interview

I was contacted by HR representative from Vancouver via email. Then have passed one interview via phone and second in Calgary’s office. First interview took 30 min. Second 45 min. Nothing special, standard questions + question based on my CV. Then promised me to contact me later, nobody contacted me since then.
