AltisHR – Why Work For Us?

altisHR is one of Canada’s top recruitment and staffing companies. Every year, our team fills more than 8,500 temporary, contract and permanent positions in Toronto, North York, Mississauga, Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver.

We’re the primary or exclusive supplier to most of Canada’s top employers. By providing the most skilled resources available in the shortest turnaround time, we’ve won hundreds of loyal clients within a wide range of industries - insurance, legal, not-for-profit, hi-tech, construction, health, scientific, management and more.

Our passion for staffing has also made us the largest staffing supplier to the Government of Canada, the Government of the Province of Ontario, and numerous crown corporations. Combined with our key standing offers and supply arrangements — including Temporary Help Services (THS) standing offer/supply arrangement and Task-Based Informatics Professional Services (TBIPS) — it all adds up to more opportunities for the candidates we represent.

We’ve built a reputation for excellence by placing qualified, professional candidates in a wide range of administrative support, accounting/finance, IT and senior specialized roles. It’s why virtually every client organization we serve keeps coming back.

PROUD TO BE 100% CANADIAN-OWNED

When we give back to our community, our goal is to make a real impact. Whether we’re helping disadvantaged kids enjoy the experience of summer camp, providing healing tools for mental health or giving basic shelter to international refugees in crisis, our support stems from a commitment to enhance the lives of others.

SOME OF THE CAUSES WE’RE PROUD TO SUPPORT INCLUDE:

  • Prostate Cancer – Through our company’s annual Hockey Pool, the support of our participants and corporate sponsors, we have donated more than $145,000 to help fund research trials that help men suffering from Advanced Prostate Cancer. Toni’s Hockey Pool 2017-18 season raised a grand total of $13,422. Our hope is that the active research taking place in Canada will be the key to turning off the prostate cancer gene.
In addition our team supports Movember.

  • Christie Lake Camp - As a childhood Christie Lake camper, one of our company’s co-founders knows how going to camp can build lifelong confidence and skills. That’s why we send 12 kids to camp every summer, and made a special donation of six new canoes in 2014.

  • Centre for Addiction and Mental Health - The Aboriginal Services Program provides clinical services to Aboriginal people through traditional songs, observances and dancing. We’ve provided materials for this cultural approach to healing, including materials for hand drums, smudging kits, plants and pow wow events.

  • YMCA Greater Vancouver – As a charity, the YMCA provides vital community services that are having a positive impact on Canada’s most pressing social issues. In support of this initiative we have decided to donate to the Greater Vancouver branch to assist in building stronger, more helpful and caring communities.

  • Canada 150 – In celebration of Canada’s 150th Anniversary our firm is helping Newcomers to Canada gain work experience. Our goal is to allow these Newcomers to update their resume with two Canadian employers listed, including references, and to gain a renewed confidence in their professional abilities. 90% of the first group of Newcomers to Canada we worked with have secured additional contracts!

I have been working at AltisHR full-time

    Pros

The staff is very professional. I wasn't actively looking for a job but I was unhappy with my current employment situation. I was located through LinkedIn by one of AltisHR recruiters who successfully placed me with my current employer. It has been 4 months with my current employer and I am very happy. It was a great fit. The process placing me with my current employer was very simple, they assisted with negotiating the terms of my benefits and salary and I was able to maintain a work from home and office balance I have become accustomed to. Overall great experience.

    Cons

I had given this a lot of thought and I cannot think of any cons.

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at AltisHR (Toronto, ON) in February-2015.

    Interview

The recruiter from Altis called and invited me to an interview. When she described the job, it was clearly completely unrelated to my background, experience, skills, and professional goals. When I expressed that this seemed really far from a fit, she said "No, no, this is how they describe it, but really your general skills in x will be perfect." What can I say? I was almost finished another assignment and needed work, so I went - taking (unpaid) time off to go. When I interviewed, the company seemed great and the job fantastic but clearly a total mismatch. I have a lot of valuable skills, but I have absolutely NO background in what they were seeking. The interviewers could see it, I could see it, and you know what else? I am sure that the Altis recruiter saw it too. She just had to "send her three people" and had one in mind and didn't care about the fit of the others. She didn't respect me or my time, or respond honestly when I spoke about my misgivings. I lost wages, time, and energy on this. Altis went further in losing my respect.
