    Pros

    - Product is beloved by customers, especially when compared to competitors. Adaptive really has a great product, and a very collaborative environment.
    - Strong management team (CEO) and founder. Bad culture flows downhill in companies, and Tom doesn't pass anything down. He wants us to succeed. His mindset reminds me of HBR's Clayton Christensen's "How will you measure your life" recommendations.
    - I don't think Adaptive really realizes how clutch it is to "own" the office of the CFO. Many have tried, all have failed (except Excel.) This is a HUGE bonus when looking for references, and just generally dealing with clients.
    - Very strong financials and growth outlook

    Cons

    - I think the term used around the company that "this is a family trying to grow up to be a team" is on point. Some members across the organization seem immature in their overall tech industry skillsets (spanning engineering, PSO, execution, biz dev, marketing, etc.)
    - The "if only we could get back to the way things were" mindset that is pervasive within some teams. This is harmful, and also illogical - the processes and culture of a $10m are not the same in a $150m company.

    Advice to Management

    - Focus on the solution in the mind of the customers, and focus on making CFOs / VP Finance successful with a lower-TCO go to market model.
    - Really need to address the gap between PSO and Sales - it's creating a lot of churn internally. Not necessarily with customers, but just internally. More knowledge of a "true IT project (even if it's owned by Finance)" is necessary... especially as we move even more into the enterprise

    Positive Experience

    Application

I applied online. The process took 6+ weeks. I interviewed at Adaptive Insights (Palo Alto, CA (US)) in December 2017.

    Interview

The recruiter initially contacted me within a week of me submitting my application and always kept me informed throughout all stages of the process. I had an initial phone screen with the recruiter followed by an interview with the hiring manager and lastly final rounds with three team members/cross-functional team members. Adaptive gave me flexibility to complete my interviews over the phone as I live quite a way away from the office. It was a very pleasant and thorough process that took about 2-3 weeks in total and everyone was very courteous, warm and friendly throughout. Although an offer was not extended as they decided to go with a more experienced candidate, I would recommend Adaptive to others as I feel it’s a great company and I appreciate the professionalism they’ve displayed.
