I worked at Illumina as an intern

    Pros

I enjoy the fast-pace and emphasis on innovation. Not too big, but big enough where they are an active voice in the future of personalized medicine and mass genetic sequencing at a global scale. The employees have a strong sense of social purpose.

    Cons

Interns are held to very high standards, which is mostly a Pro!

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Illumina (La Jolla, CA (US)).

    Interview

I received an automated response regarding my application within a week. I received a request to do the digital interview which I promptly returned. The in house recruiter shortly reached out to me to set up a follow up phone meeting wherein I was further screened for experience and compensation. She said she would get back to me but never did. Note: She also was late in the call and hurriedly finished it at the half hour mark.
