I applied online. The process took 5+ months. I interviewed at British Airways (Manchester, England (UK)) in February 2016.
I first applied through reed.co.uk. Had to do some online testing, numerical and judgement questionnaires and submitted them. Later during the day I received an email telling me that I passed their initial tests and they invited me for a telephone interview. Booked the interview for 5 days later. Did the interview, the interviewer was very friendly, very helpful and it made me relax. At the end I was put on hold for a couple of minutes for the interviewer to finish their notes and then I was told I passed the test and was invited to an assessment centre.
Unfortunately I did not have my NI number yet so I had to wait for the next available one since they wouldn't allow you to attend their assessment centre without having an NI number. This was around the end of February and the only available assessment centre at the time was at the beginning of March so I couldn't attend.
I was contacted beginning of April and was told that they would like to book me in one of their assessment centres which was taking place on the 4th of May. I went to the assessment centre, it was basically some small presentations on information that was given to you on an A4 page and you first had to present this to your group; we were split into tables and each table was a group and was reviewed by 2 staff of BA, and then had to agree as a group to put the presentations in order of importance. Then we were given some very very very basic calculations tests and to write a small email to an imaginary customer who requested something in the test and you had to calculate.
We were given a small tour of the building and then we were given another A4 page that we had to study and then participate in a small roleplay where I played the role of the customer advisor and the interviewer played the role of the customer who wanted some information on some products and offers. We had to wait until everyone was finished, were were thanked for our participation and were told that we would be contacted in about 5-7 working days of the decision.
After 5 days I received an email that I passed and was given a conditional offer for the job, the conditions being that I passed their security checks as well as the criminal records check. I accepted and the process started. This was on the 9th of May.
Two months later, on the 11th of July, and after a few emails regarding the progress with minimal progression as a response I was told that "due to operational changes all future intakes have been cancelled by British Airways".
Gutted and very disappointed after waiting 2 months for the checks to go through (mind you, on the 20th of June I was sent an email saying that they were still uploading the information onto their system and they would start contacting the references... a month and a half after the assessment centre!) and after being told that the starting date would be on the 8th of August.
