How would I handle a situation where a resident was displaying behavioral episodes around or to other residents and/or employees?

I would take the resident to my office to talk with them and calm them down prior to returning them to the activity in which was agitating the resident. If the resident refused to calm down, then I would have them remain with me 1 on 1 in my office until he/she was calm all the while talking with him/her about what may be bothering them. Then I would give them choices as to what he/she wanted to do i.e. return to the activity, their room, tv area, or stay with me in my office as "my assitant" for the day. I am a very calm person myself so it comes easy to me to be able to calm others just from my way of words, body language, and suggestions so that the resident had choices in regards to their actions and him/her learning coping methods when a situation in the future arises that may become upsetting to them. I believe my easy going and friendly manor is an excellent skill to have that allows me to get along well with others even if they are upset. I am able to work individually or as a team as well and strive to represent the company in a positive manor. Less

There are state and federal guidelines to adhere to, along with individual analysis of progress being made. In order to best serve each individual there was a need to understanding diverse cultures. The implementation of strategies used were as diverse as the individual in promoting success. Compassion and patience were key. Less

How would I handle a situation where a resident was suicidal?

I would again assist them to my office, calmly speak with them, and explain to them about the geriatric hospitals that would be of great help to them. I would then contact the hospital and send over my referral request and set up transportation arrangements for the resident with the help of their family members. The resident would remain on 15 minute checks until able to be transferred to the hospital for treatment as needed. If the resident is combative, then I kept them with me in my offfice away from other residents so that they couldn't harm themselves or others, including staff or other residents. Less

How many years of social service, what were my job responsibilities, and what would I do in the case that I knew of a patient's abuse.

I told them that I had over 20 years in social service and my job responsibilities included case management, interviewing, transporting, monitoring, medication management, and assessments. Less

They asked me about previous experience, which I will tell you at Glassdoor, is difficult for me to include in my resume when I fill out information grids/boxes and then these are edited. SO that is why I dropped of my resume and even that didn't include ALL the information relevant to Long Term Care because it was too long ago. I OVERCAME this in the interview and on the form I completed by saying, Just ask me.

See above. THE ADMINISTRATOR TOLD ME THAT SHE HAD 2 MORE INTERVIEWS AND I MAY BE CALLED BACK FOR A SECOND INTERVIEW. I felt very positive about the experience when I departed. I HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE what happens next. That is the worst part. Less

I explained that my passion was to help those who were in need of the the most support led me to become a teacher. I wanted to be that one teacher who defied the odds, who could make a difference in a child's life through needed support. My heart truly cares about those in need and I only hope that I can be of use to other's lives. Less
