Most question were situational, like "tell me about a time when something has gone wrong" and "how have you prioritised multiple requests?", but there were some traditional questions like "why do you want to work for NHSBSA?"

With hindsight, I'd certainly have done a bit more revision of my career successes to help me talk about them more readily. As it stood, I was like a rabbit in the headlights, totally unprepared and quickly trying to rack my brains through a 25 year career! I failed dramatically! Ignorantly, coming from a private sector background, I thought the interview would be a nice comfortable chit-chat about my skills and experience in a more general way, and demonstrating how I would fit into the team and benefit the organisation... Now I realise they were probably looking for a series of structured responses, each quoting an example using the STAR interview method. Less
