I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Zoox (Foster City, CA) in Jan 2023
Interview
Recruiter call - OA (easy) - Technical screen (OOP programming using design pattern] - Tech interview (1R) - HR manager (1R) The overall process was not bad, you are going to match the team you want to join first and interview with their team members. But after passing all the interviews they finally decided not to hire any intern in that team which should be considered before accepting interview.
I applied through their portal with a cold application, after which a recruiter reached out and asked me to complete an online assessment. Once I completed the assessment, the process was as follows:
Initial Phone Screen: I had a 30 minute conversation with a recruiter, where we discussed my background, experience, and motivation for applying to Zoox.
Technical Interviews:
1st Round: Trivia and Programming: This round focused on basic questions around core computer science concepts and the programming language of my choice (Python).
2nd Round: Backend System Design: This round was centered on backend system design, where I had to design scalable and reliable backend systems.
Final Round: Behavioral questions.
