One of their HR reps reached out to me via LinkedIn and asked if I would be interested in working as an account executive with Gannett.
They ended up hiring someone else for the position that they had originally recruited me for, so they asked if I would be interested in relocating for a similar position, which I was fine with, although I did have to go through nearly the whole interview process again.
The interviews themselves, while in-depth, were quite pleasant. There was plenty of deep diving into my work history, which gave me the opportunity to demonstrate the breadth of my skillset, which is something that I've had to go out of my way to bring up in interviews with other companies.
They were also extremely prompt in giving me feedback, and the HR contact that I was working with was a phenomenal guide through the whole process.
The only negative thing I can say about the process is that every time I would advance to the next stage of interviews, the person I needed to talk to would inevitably be on vacation that week, causing at least 5-7 days delay in the scheduling each time. While a bit frustrating initially, it eventually got to the point of sheer hilarity after it happened several times in a row. That said, I believe this was a fluke, and I don't suspect that it's a common trend with new hires. They also handled it professionally and communicated quickly and clearly about everything, which is the more important part.
At the end of the day, I really enjoyed interviewing with Gannett. After several months of job searching, their process was a breath of fresh air, and I really appreciated the professionalism they displayed, while still being down to earth in the interviews themselves.
Two thumbs up!
