I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at USA TODAY Co. (Arlington, VA)
Interview
I applied internally through another Gannett company. I was taken to lunch by two editors, one senior, another junior. Then they assigned me to cover a committee hearing in Congress the following day, for which I filed a story. However, there really wasn't much "news" as it was an incremental development being discussed at the hearing; bigger events were breaking that day, so my story didn't make it.
The interview was normal questions about your previous experience and qualifications. There was only one interview before the job offer. There was also a chance to ask them questions to see if it’s a good fit.

Question 1
Talk about a time when there was a challenge/conflict and how did you handle it?
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at USA TODAY Co.
Interview
It was a comprehensive interview process, with a number of staffers, and gave a good introduction to the team the interviewee would be working with. It created a sense of familiarity with the newsroom at the time, although processes have likely changed.
Great! Conducted via Zoom, the interview process iwas smooth, respectful and efficient. Applicants had the chance to ask HR questions as well as the next step of the hiring process.
