      SWE Interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Twilio in Sep 2017

      Interview

I met Twilio at my college's career fair, spoke with them at their booth and my resume was good enough to get an e-mail a couple hours later asking me to schedule an on-campus technical interview for the next morning. I aced this interview, and was told by the interviewer that the process for me would only need one phone screen, and then I would be flown out for on-site. However, I had three more technical phone screens. The first one I did well (albeit me having to wait 3 weeks for a scheduled interview), but then apparently he left the company, and I was told I'd have to re-do that round, which made sense. The turnaround for the next interview was only 2 weeks, and the interviewer also said that I was impressive, but I was informed by my recruiter after the interview that his team filled up before the interview. Only a month later (and after several e-mails trying to contact the recruiter with no success) was I scheduled for a third phone interview that was at the same stage in the process as the other two. This interviewer was impressed, and started giving me tips on the next round (which surprised me) and said I was definitely advancing. However, I received an e-mail a week later stating that I would not be advancing, thereby finally relieving me of the extreme uncertainty and wishful thinking that plagued my Twilio interview process. In no way did I think I simply deserved to be hired solely based on the quality of my interviews, as there are always many factors at play. However, the lack of honesty, clarity, and responsiveness was horrendous. The icing on the cake was the recruiters sending blanket e-mails asking interviewees to be patient and keep them updated, only to never get a response on my updates on other offers I had received. Others that I knew interviewing for Twilio shared this same negative experience, and I think overall the company has seriously done a poor job during the recruiting process. I really hope nobody else goes through what I went through, but I'm not so sure of it.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Twilio in Nov 2024

      Interview

I had a couple of technical rounds and one with the hiring manager. The recruiter was supportive and good, as were my interviewers during the coding rounds. However, the hiring manager was the rudest I have ever encountered. Don't waste your time - their values mean nothing to them based on my unpleasant interview with the hiring manager.

      Interview

Standard first round phone interview on coderpad. Interviewer focused more on ideas than getting the code to compile. Thinking out loud was important. I did end up getting the code to compile and pass all the test cases.
