I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Tesla (Fremont, CA) in Feb 2022
Interview
Simple process: 2 technical rounds, first round 45 min, 2nd 60 min. Prepare fundamentals of mechanical engineering and be prepared to be asked practical questions. They would try to help you if you get stuck, they would analyze how you get to answer rather than whether you get the correct answer.

Question 1
- Stress-strain curves - Bending moment diagrams - Flexural rigidity - Spring constant of a member - Some questions on practical scenarios
two rounds of interviews both extremely technical, one being your more usual technical questions for MDE, the other being open ended and more confusing to come up with a clear solution for.
