      Full Stack Developer Interview

      Jun 26, 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Tel Aviv-Yafo
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Taboola (Tel Aviv-Yafo) in Jun 2016

      Interview

HR interview, first on the phone then in person. The HR person didn't read my CV before the interview, wasn't interested when I described the challenges in my previous projects, don't actually know what he wanted to hear. Couldn't explain what is the team he's hiring for doing different compared to existing teams. Didn't answer any of my questions about the company except repeating how great it is. Specifically was hostile when I asked how many engineers were hired in the last 6-12 months.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Taboola (Tel Aviv-Yafo)

      Interview

The process started gread. After talking with the (very nice) hr, I had an hour long interview over the phone, 2 hour long zoom interview, a week to do a home assignment (that was very fair) and a code review. After each step the hr called me and gave me a feedback. I had an interview with the hr over zoom. She had told me they liked me and would wanna continue, the only step left is an interview with vp r&d and it's not supposed to be technical and more of a formal step. We talked about my salary expectations and she told me it's a bit high and gave me a much lower offer, I told her it was too low for me and asked if they could raise it a little, she told me she would check on that and get back to me. On the next day she called me back and we discussed the offer. It seemed we agree on the terms. I had a meeting scheduled supposably with the vp r&d but the person who talked to me introduced himself as a director of some field and told me there will be another interview with the vp r&d. This interview turned out to be another technical interview. That makes it total of 4 technical interviews and a home assignment. It's been three weeks after that interview and no one talked to me. I find it strange as the process was really pleasant and the people who talked to me were really nice. I understand that silence means rejection and it's fine, but the bare minimum is to tell me that. If someone would have called me I would rate this as a great experience.

      Full Stack Developer Interview

      Sep 26, 2017

      Ramat Gan
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Taboola (Ramat Gan) in Aug 2017

      Interview

The company invited me to their offices for a number of interviews. The usual process is a general technical interview first, then an in-office test (a few hours), then HR and then upper management. The first stage involves two managers talking to you, and the second has two managers as well, but they mostly check the progress. It's a fairly standard process for such a company, and the questions were relevant and to the point. Aside from making me wait 40 minutes at the reception the first time, I have no complaints there. However, what happened after the second interview was weird and unprofessional, and unbecoming of such a company. Basically I came to the position with vast experience in the field, but not the specific technologies they were using (I had a bit of experience with their stack though, not nil). The interviewers repeatedly told me that this wasn't an issue, even when I offered to do the tests with their tech—and I would be tested in whatever technologies I felt comfortable with. They even installed a local server and IDE for me. Thus I was able to breeze through the technical questions and tests. When I completed the final technical test, they said they were satisfied, and actually went to fetch the HR person for the last (non-technical) stages of the process. However, the HR was unavailable, so they said they would call me back. A few days later I got a call from HR saying I was unsuitable. Asking why, the answer was that they were looking for someone more familiar with their specific tech stack. Any other reason would have been understandable, but this is just trolling, in light of the above. Felt like my time had been thoroughly wasted after that call.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Describe the software architecture of at least one product you worked on, describe a proper object-oriented design for X and Y, write some log parsers that analyze the parsed data, etc.
