Applied on their talent website. Was emailed by a recruiter to schedule a phone interview a month later. Was later emailed to change the interview to in person. Was called right before the in person interview started to let me know the interview was accidentally scheduled for the wrong day.
Finally had the in person interview, which lasted 2 hours. Some of the time was spent apologizing for the newly outsourced recruiter who has delayed the hiring process with incompetency.
The interviewer was very knowledgeable, polite, and friendly. The formal interview part was mostly scripted behavioral interview questions. The interviewer seemed genuinely interested in me, and really appeared to like me and my answers. We went off script for nearly an hour getting to know each other. I also liked what I learned about the job.
The interviewer said my salary requirement was $5K higher that what Suntrust could offer. (This should have been screened out before the interview, since it was required on the application). I offered to rework the numbers and said things could still work out. The interviewer promised to call me in a few weeks regardless.
After 4 weeks, the talent portal says I am no longer being considered.
Not a professional interview experience. It seems Suntrust has outsourced to the lowest bidder to save a buck, which has caused all sorts of problems with the hiring process.
