      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Snap (Los Angeles, CA) in Apr 2017

      Interview

I was recruited for a position in Snap’s content department and while I didn’t get the job it was a great experience. For real. I first interviewed with a very organized and friendly recruiter and then had 3 rounds of interviews with people in the content department. I was impressed with everyone I met and the attention to detail that HR gave me in each and every email. Other startups and companies I’ve interviewed for were less organized and not as excited to work at their company as people at Snap are. Overall, I’m bummed I didn’t get the job but honestly, the interviewing experience was surprisingly pleasant and organized.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Snap (Los Angeles, CA) in Sep 2020

      Interview

I was referred to a position and was ghosted by the recruiter after getting through the second round, with no update on the role or my candidacy. Completely unprofessional and looks bad for the company. Recruiters are a candidate’s first impression of a company and this looked terrible on Snap. The recruiter call was pretty standard—general questions about my experience and how it might translate to this possible new role. The call itself was very helpful, and by the end of it the recruiter laid out next steps. I was put through the second round with the hiring manager. The recruiter then reached out a week later to set up a last minute call with the hiring manager with little notice, so I scrambled to find time. The hiring manager call was extremely rushed, asking if we could start early because he had to leave for an appointment. Didn’t give me great vibes but seemed to generally hint I would hear back. Either way even if I were not to move forward, the recruiter never emailed or followed up, even after I followed up 1-2 weeks later. No response. This looks terrible for someone who was referred to the company (and the referrer now feels horrible). As a company with the benefit of being able to hire people during the pandemic, it feels worse. With no sense of closure and having felt led on, at the very least have the courtesy and respect to simply send an email with an update.
