      Flight Attendant Interview

      Mar 25, 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Los Angeles, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at SkyWest Airlines (Los Angeles, CA) in Mar 2016

      Interview

It was a cattle call like everyone said. To be honest I'm not sure I can call this an interview. It was laughable. . Everyone who attended got there on time. However there was one straggler who came late. When I say late she missed the introduction about the company and everything else. She came in when were more than half way through with the group interview. She shouldnt have even been there. Before they start the interview process they ask " Why you become a great flight attendant and what qualities do you posses? " They stated with emphasis, do not talk about your family and personal problems and answer in 60 seconds or less. However, 90% of those who did just that and repeated the words "customer service "over and over and rambled on were chosen to stay. All of those who were articulate and studied didn't get invited to the second round. Most of everyone ate their words and rushed through their answers. Also, there were several people who did not dress the part. You dont have to look like a flight attendant but you should look like you are coming into an interview. That's not even the most depressing part though. The girl who came late was invited back for a 2nd round to interview. There were people who were surprised they got the interview because they knew they legitimately fudged their answer. She was one of them. Although the recruiters knew she was late already, She stated it in what was supposed to be her 60 sec. answer. Then people kept answering 2 different questions.I had to ask what the questions again because people either said why they would be a great flight attendant or why they wanted to be one and on top of included their family in it, Everyone stated that they love to fly and travel and was selected to say. The very thing you are warned not to say on here or anywhere else. Skywest Lost my respect not because they didnt pick me,but because they picked all of the people who didnt follow directions and they wasted my time by allowing someone who was not respectful to their peers by showing up. I dont want to work for a company who allows someone to disrespect everyone else's time and theirs. There were so many people who did 10 second pauses and rambled and either didnt answer the question or didnt completely and then rambled about their life over a minute who got invited back. If thats what Skywest is about then I am glad I didnt get picked because I made it a point to prepare and Show up on time and those who didnt are given opportunity. There were others who were qualified and had no issues communicating in a crowd that answered perfectly as they felt I did who were not called back. They're recruiting process is questionable. I see why they have a high turn over rate Its this along with the poor choice of flight attendant. They're constantly hiring because no one stays because people find being a flight attendant isnt for them so they leave or because the pay isn't worth it. I have a passion for the field but Im glad I didn't get picked. I refuse to work with a company with poor ethics. *Hardly anyone followed directions *No one Listened *Many lacked confidence and were not well spoken *Very few took this interview seriously but were called back. My entire evening was wasted on this and its truly upsetting.

It was a virtual one on one and after this process they alerted me of my training date a week later. The process was so pretty seemless and the company is good to work for but any little mistake you make you can be out.
