      Software Engineer Intern Interview

      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Sigma Computing in Nov 2023

      Interview

Recruiter reaches out with a take home assesment, First round is to design a File System using Cli, second was to discuss with an interviewer, third was recruiter screening, fourth( didn't reach here) is another technical interview. After a lot of time wasting got the generic - others may be more suited for the projects we have in mind. When so much of time is being sank in for an internship, it is expected that the recruiters do the due diligence and align candidates to projects before hand!

      Software Engineer Intern Interview

      Mar 14, 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Sigma Computing in Feb 2021

      Interview

Interview process was actually good! I was briefed about the entire hiring process in the first email, which read I had to do an OA, then a call with an engineer to discuss about my approach and finally a technical round to close the process. I liked their OA, it's unique and practical. It was not time boxed (although 3 hours is the average time apparently), and the problem was relatable to their product. Interviewers in both the rounds were knowledgeable and warmth. Sigma computing's evaluation criteria seems like a blackbox or they just don't know what they want. It seems like all they need is just one intern, for which they are interviewing 100s of folks and wasting each one's time. In spite of cracking all the rounds and the interviewers seemingly satisfied with my performance, I shockingly receive a reject after a week. Politely requested for feedback twice as I was looking forward to the offer. No reply whatsoever. I would have embraced the reject had they provided me with feedback, so that I could tune my process accordingly.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      1. A filesystem structure related problem through cli interface as inputs. Tested my design, programming and data-structures skills. There wasn't any time limit as such, but I was expected to finish within three hours, which I did. 2. Discussions about my approaches and thought process for 1. There were a couple of behavioral questions too, which I honestly didn't expect, but the interviewer seemed to have gotten the answers he was looking for, nonetheless. He was nice to discuss/brainstorm along with! 3. Coding round for ~45 mins. Was asked a couple of questions related random numbers and trees and later on was asked to improve the space complexity. Answered all the questions I was asked, the interviewer was seemingly convinced.
