      Junior Omniture Analyst Interview

      May 5, 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      El Segundo, CA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Romack (El Segundo, CA) in Apr 2014

      Interview

I applied for this job in El Segundo, CA. First off, I applied for the position and not even a half hour later, I received a call from the recruiter asking for an interview. I spoke with him on the phone about a dozen times, and that's when I was able to pick up. The guy would email and call multiple times a day to make sure I was still interested. I'm desperate for a job and decided to go along with it. I had a phone interview with the team manager which went well, but asked way too in depth questions about my abilities without ever speaking about the position in further detail. It was uncomfortable. Then the next day they wanted an in person interview for 4 hours. I was to speak individually with each person on the team. That seemed a bit excessive, but I went along with it. I arrived on time and in style, they were 20 minutes late to meet me. Strike One. I was escorted upstairs to speak with the team manager first. He told me this was his 4th job in 2 years, he barely likes what he does, he thinks it's unnatural to work 8 hours a day and is the first one to take frequent breaks, looks down on people who work over time, that he needed someone like me to make his life easier, and told me I couldn't leave the room until all the interviews were over. Two of my interviews of the day were over skype. Strike Two. I then met with a woman who was let go from Disney a few months back and just had a sour attitude. She told me she needed me to take the load off her so she can take a break every once in a while. Then twisted my words in ridiculous ways to make me seem to be incompetent. She spent the rest of our time together talking smack on Disney and how she hates the work environment. The next guy was very quiet, didn't understand a word I said to him, seemed surprised about my background when he had my resume right in front of him. Then asked me if I needed to go "pee pee". Sir, I'm an adult and in no way is that appropriate to say during a professional interview. Strike Three. The next woman was on Skype and she could only speak about how she's glad she works from home so she doesn't have to deal with anyone in person. Then talked about how great her husband is, without asking me any substantial questions. Strike, strike, strike. The last guy asked me questions and he, I think, intended to put his mic on mute so I could talk, but forgot and started playing Hoodie Allen in the background. WHERE AM I? Lastly, the manager came back to chat. He told me I was about his 50th (FIFTIETH....let me repeat) interview in 4 months for this position. That tells you one of two things, they realize no one wants the position, or that they're way too picky. With my experience, it seems like nobody wants it. Pays well, but I wouldn't want to work in that environment. It was possibly the strangest interview I've ever had.
