TLDR: read the bottom section.
A recruiter reached out to me for a "security risk" position. I responded and asked for a job description, but the recruiter said one there is none yet. This is a bit odd, but I went ahead and setup a call with her.
In the morning of the day where I was supposed to have a call, the recruiter contacted me and asked to change the time. I moved around my schedule and accepted the change.
At the time of the call, the recruiter NEVER called me, even after I emailed her. She later contacted me late in the evening and told me she was unable to make it and had to re-schedule. Again, I accepted the new time.
During the call, she just jumped in and started asking me for my experience. Keep in mind that I do not have a job description in front of me, so I did not know what is the hiring manager looking for. Usually, I will look at the job description so I know which specific experiences I can talk to. I gave a broad explanation of my experiences since security and compliance is a very broad topics, especially when I have 20 years of experiences.
I then asked her what is the job entails and I received just a generic explanation.
TLDR: This is a truly frustrating experience because:
1). The recruiter changed the interview time TWICE - one where she was a no show. She must have known that it took some effort for a candidate to do a phone interview (calendar block, find a quite place, etc.)
2). There is no job description, so I don't even know what is the role about.
Robinhood is a fintech company and this is a security role. It's bizarre that for such a critical role, the recruiter / hiring manager will not know what kind of candidate they are looking for, not to mention the recruiter being unprofessional with the scheduling.
