      Senior Product Designer Interview

      Feb 22, 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Reddit in Feb 2022

      Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter about two weeks after applying and scheduled a 30 min video call with the design manager. Interviewer was nice, but 5 mins late, and we had some technical issues near the end, so we only had about 20 mins to actually talk. That's simply not enough time to interview for a role at this level. I was told a portfolio review would come next, but I didn't move on to that step. The recruiter sent a personal email letting me know this, which was much appreciated, but it's still frustrating to be denied after such a brief conversation.

      Interview

Had a 1:1 process with the Hiring Manager, and first of all they want to talk about my experience, and the second part is giving me a rough idea of what they trying to do next step at Reddit, also asked me to ask questions.

      Interview

Had a 1:1 with head of design, went over project and answered questions and then had a whiteboard challenge with head of design. Typical interview process. Scheduling was all over the place and disorganized.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Whiteboard challenge was the same public transportation question as mentioned in other posts but it's not really a typical whiteboard challenge, it's more about just thinking of random solutions and not really about how you get to one solution or how you problem solve. Not interested in the process, only random solutions. Interviewer also doesn't answer questions or engage with you during it. Doesn't seem like a good design culture.
