      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Reckitt (Hull, England) in Dec 2018

      Interview

Easy online application. Then I was contacted by a recruitment agency and had a brief interview with someone over skype. They responded quite quickly to let me know I was through to the assessment centre. The AC included group exercises, individual exercises and a competency based interview. I really enjoyed most of the exercises, however it was annoying that the staff members conducting the individual exercises behaved so differently. Some people had very difficult experiences whilst others had very easy experiences. I had one woman finish the exercise with me 30 minutes early and just chat with me about things, and then my feedback said "I didn't ask everything I could have in the exercise".. but errrm she was the one who cut it short?! The competency interview seemed really unnecessarily difficult. They asked a lot of hard questions and would follow up with about ten sub-questions if they felt you hadn't answered well enough. They also pulled facial expressions as if what you were saying was completely ridiculous while you were speaking. This made it very stressful and hard to relax. It was definitely the hardest competency interview I've had, as questions were quite convoluted like "describe a time you did a group project with a difficult team member where you had to come up with a creative approach to solve the problem" - so there were about three different parts to address always. I was called the next day by the recruitment agency and rejected in quite a blunt way.
