I was referred by a current employee for the position. I was contacted by a Sales Manager, scheduled a time to go out for lunch with him and another Sales Manager. Everything went well and I was invited back to give a presentation about myself and why I would be a good fit. There were 3 people in the presentation, plus the managers. I got some good feedback about the presentation and I was thinking everything was going well. After the presentation I followed up and they were still "deciding" between me and a couple other candidates. After several exchanges with the Sales Managers they continued to string me along stating everything was on hold since they didn't hit their numbers. Eventually I never heard back and that was it, this was over the course of about 3-4 months. I would have been fine with a typical "sorry, we are going in another direction" instead of stringing me along and holding out hope.
