My resume was shortlisted and was contacted by their in-house recruiter, it was pleasant initially and I was excited about the Interview as they worked on Data security for Big Data.
The initial round was telephonic and it went smooth, though I did not have answers to all his questions, it was a good discussion. I felt good answering his question as far as I could.
The second round was with their Global QA head, the recruiter scheduled the interview at 4PM on a weekday, I was ok with the timing since I lived near my workplace and could go home and attend the interview.
The interview started an hour late and only after me calling the recruiter up.. It went on for an hour till there was an abrupt stop, I was confused and called the recruiter, who informed me that the interviewer's laptop was out of charge and the feedback he received was positive. I lost about 2.5 hours of my normal work day, but I felt it was worth it.
The recruiter contacted me later and informed me that there would be another HR round and I received a call from the site manager for Protegrity in India. He told me about the various Protegrity products, what exactly I would be doing in the organisations and finally salary. I told him what I had in mind and he asked me the reason for it. After some discussion, he told me that the recruiter would mail me the exact split-up the next day and I would need to come down to their office later for further discussions. At this point of time I felt happy and informed immediate family members about the job.
The last round took place on a Wednesday, there was no word from them for the next 6 days and I got a little worried and called them up. The recruiter told me that he had “forgotten” about it and that he wanted to talk to me for 30 mins. During that discussion he informed me of the perks and benefits, which were pretty decent, but similar to what I had been receiving at that time.
Then we moved onto salary, this is where it went sour, he told me that he wouldn’t be able to pay me that much. I was ok with what he had offered, but a little disappointed as I thought I would receive what I had asked for during the discussion with the site manager. When I told him this he said “ I should’ve known that there would be one more round” also that “ I am not just a paper pusher, I have 8 years experience in recruiting” .
Later that night I received a mail informing me that the position has been put on hold, which made me feel extremely low.
Haven't heard from them since.
