I put in my application and received a call the next day. After reading some of the reviews on Glassdoor, I was reluctant to interview, but decided to go ahead after repeated calls from one of the managers. I had an interview with two of the managers (not sure what kind of managers because they never really introduced themselves) and it was an interesting experience. Some of the questions were to be expected, but some were just really bizarre. Clearly, the managers at this location had very little experience because they were reading questions verbatim off of a piece of paper and barely making any eye contact. I almost thought it was a joke at one point.
By the end of the interview, the low pay was just icing on the cake for all that you are required to do. The gym that I worked at previously had different departments for all of the jobs that you are required to do at Planet Fitness! What really upset me, and the reason I decided to post this, is that there is NO commission for signing people up, so you are losing hundreds of dollars working here. I'm not sure how it is at every location, but if you are required to sign people up without getting a commission do NOT let them take advantage of you!
Overall, the interview was just awkward and the managers had zero personality, so it felt like I was talking to myself. Oh, and they wanted me to come back for a few more interviews. Sorry, but this is basically a minimum wage job, I'm not working for the FBI. I also forget to mention that on the initial phone interview, the manager asked me what I do to keep in shape. I understand this is a gym, but don't you think that is a bit discriminatory? After all, I thought Planet Fitness was a "judgment free zone."
