I applied online. I interviewed at Palmer House Hotel (Chicago, IL) in Jun 2023
Interview
I had an interview with these people and even with my 15+ yrs of experience, they still did not pick me. They said they found another person with more experience and qualifications, But I doubt that. Even after the lady interviewed me, she still said that she was sure il be getting a call because of what she had wrote on the paper. Only to wake up with a email stating that I did not get picked was devastating, ( Like who sends emails out anyway referring to an interview if the person wasn’t picked for the job)
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Palmer House Hotel (Chicago, IL) in Feb 2015
Interview
Got an email invitation to take the online interview with hireview 2 days after doing the online application, then another 2 days after doing the online interview I was called to set up an in person interview with the housekeeping manager, I went in for the interview the next day well dressed, well spoken and was on point with the scenario questions, the housekeeping manager wsnt available so one of her peers interviewed me, she told me after the interview that I should be hearing back soon via wm5ail or phone from hr with a decision, it has been 2 weeks now and I still haven't heard anything, I have been on pins and needles daily waiting on a call from hr...man do I want this job bad, idk what thier selection process is but I am sure they interviewed alot of candidates, and I guess they are taking thier time choosing thier picks... huuuuh, why must they do this to people!

Interview
I applied online and was contacted by email about 2-3 days later. Scheduled an initial phone interview with a Palmer House HR rep. The interview lasted about 20-30 minutes. The HR rep was very personable and asked typical interview questions such as "What is your greatest weakness", "How have you handled an irate customer", and "What was one of the most challenging issues you dealt with".
About two weeks after the interview, the Director of Security contacted me by email to schedule a brief phone screen interview. The Director was also very personable and friendly. The interview felt more like a conversation than an interrogation. Some expected interview questions along with questions about time management, teamwork challenges, and why I chose this industry. The interview was under 30 minutes long.
The process, at least for this position, was very long. It took about a month from the day of application to the second phone interview, and applicants who moved on still had to get through in-person interviews. The Director mentioned that there had been quite a few applicants for the position.
I was disappointed to not move to the next step in the hiring process, but the overall experience was still a positive one.
