I applied online, answered some questions, and uploaded a video explaining my experience/qualifications. I got an email back in one week to schedule a 2.5 hour interview through Zoom. The "interview" which lasted approx. 30 seconds, was actually another coach who quickly introduced herself, and said" any questions?" and since I didn't really have any yet, I said "no", and she said "ok, let's start the mock coaching" And went straight to a Google Doc where she played a client who wasn't willing to make any changes. It went well, and I was emailed to set up another interview. In between interviews, I mentioned to the RD (registered dietician) who works with most of my clients that I was interviewing here, and she suggested that I check the state regulations for nutrition coaching. My state is a "red" state, which means "This law is a Licensure with Exclusive Scope of Practice law. Only a dietitian can be licensed to provide nutrition care including: assessment, goal setting, counseling, or advice." I called the Secretary of State's office to ask about this, and they actually had someone call me back, who said this job would definitely fall under the "counseling or advice" umbrella, and I could be fined for not being a licensed, Registered Dietician. I emailed Noom, telling them this, and they said "oh well, we're just considered a support role" I told them that the State of Georgia disagrees... and then she just said I could cancel the next interview if I didn't want to work for them. I think this company is very misleading, and could be potentially illegal for people who live in states that regulate nutrition coaching and advise. They probably shouldn't be advertising in these states!!
