Application through recruiter with CV.
Invited to assessment centre day which is similar to other assessment centres.
Day involved:
- Ice breaker and general introduction to Graduate scheme.
- Presentation by previous Graduate on specific role. Discussing their opportunities, skills learnt, etc.
- 2 group tasks in groups of 3 or 4 people: Ask the organisers/HR if you are unsure on anything but they may not be able to help you.
Group tasks were testing your time management, organisation, leadership, decision making, listening, persuasion, problem solving, communication, team work and presentation skills. As well as the ability to work in a pressured situation.
There is no right or wrong answer in these tasks but you need to be able to explain and justify how you've come to your decisions.
(REGULARLY TRACK HOW MUCH TIME IS LEFT, ON OWN WATCH AS THE ASSESSORS CANT HELP YOU)
- This was followed by a 40 minute interview, after lunch, with one of the Engineering management team.
The key to the interview is to prove that you are ambitious, willing to learn and take on responsibility. Although beneficial, they are not looking for someone with the complete knowledge of a particular area of the vehicle at the moment but someone that is motivated to succeed and continuously develop.
Have plenty of questions prepared so that you can ask throughout the day(lunch time) and in the interview. They may not have time to answer all your questions in the interview.
If you can demonstrate these requirements as well as the skills from the group tasks then you will very likely be a top performer in the assessment centre.
