      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at NSF (Washington, DC) in Apr 2022

      Interview

Heard back about 1.5 months after application. Had a Zoom interview that lasted a total of 1.5 hours. 3 different groups asked me generally the same questions, structure was as follows: 1) General position information with a member of admin-30 min. 2) Panel of scientists in the department who asked me more about my science background-30 min 3) Admin group of 5 who asked more general workplace questions and scenarios-30 min I was asked common workplace questions like "give me an example of a time when you showed leadership..." and "if you were to run into this scenario, how would you handle it...". I was also asked the dreaded "where do you see yourself in 5 years" question twice. Overall it was an easy-going interview and while it was long overall, this avoided having to have several follow up interviews. The only problem was that I sent the traditional follow up emails and my 1 week follow up included a response that they had just finished the interviews for everyone and hopefully they would get back to everyone soon. It has been over a month and nothing.

      Question 1

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Describe a time when you showed leadership in the workplace. Describe a time where you had competing deadlines. How did you solve this?
      Answer question

I applied online. The process took 8 months. I interviewed at NSF in Apr 2021

      Interview

Three current science assistants explained the role to me as well as the benefits, ask me fairly straightforward questions about my interests, goals, and experiences, and then answered all of my questions. The interview lasted exactly 25 minutes.

      Question 1

This position offers the chance to take outside courses in any of your interests. What would you like to take courses in to help work toward your goals?

The interview process was very straight forward and easy. Very responsive after the initial interaction. Had to wait a while until the job closed to hear about an initial interview.
