Interview
Overall, it was a relatively positive interview experiences until after the final round...
The interview process had three rounds: 1) Meeting with the UXR leads (basic "getting to know you"questions, interviewers were warm and friendly) 2) A research challenge where you are asked to work on one qualitative and one quantitative task related to usability testing 3) In person final round interview where the candidate works on research challenges (very similar to round 2) in the office environment, and then present their findings to the entire UX research team.
Since I have a mostly qual research background, I struggled with the quant tasks but it was great learning experience. I especially appreciated how this interview was structured in a way that closely mimicked the actual working conditions of the job (eg: the candidate is expected to work on the tasks, alongside colleagues and peripheral noise)
Now, after the interview was completed, I heard nothing from the team. This was especially bothersome since I had to take a flight to do the final interview (the company does pay for this!), and this was during COVID and a time where the vaccines weren't yet fully available in my area.
Also, due to the pandemic, it's typically difficult to find a flight with reasonable boarding and departure hours.
Speaking of vaccines, none of the employees in the office were wearing masks. As someone who hadn't been fully vaccinated at the time, this could have served as a major risk to my health.
