      Cyber Threat Hunter Interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Legato Security (Salt Lake City, UT) in May 2023

      Interview

I am writing this review to help anyone who interviews here to be more prepared than I was. I was contacted by this company's recruiter for the position and decided to come interview and get a feel for the company. The interview was conducted by 3 employees of the company who were all in T-shirts which was a little strange to me but I just figured they had a very laid-back company culture so it didn't bother me. I was then notified that the 3rd interviewer would be joining over video since he was working from home that day, no big deal. But it was after this where I noticed the first of many red flags in this interview. They notified me that this employee was also interested in the position I was interviewing for, a huge conflict of interest but I gave him the benefit of the doubt and hoped he could remain professional and unbiased. Unfortunately, I would soon find out how wrong I was. The other two interviewers were amicable and asked reasonable questions, however from the first question it became clear that the 3rd interviewer was not there to assess my fit for the job nor was he there to gauge my skill as a threat hunter, but instead it seemed as if he was more focused on trying to show why he was a better fit for the position by asking questions far outside the scope of responsibilities for the job and "correcting" my answers to any other questions with his own answers that were often blatantly incorrect. His corrections were often so far off I can only describe myself as feeling very alarmed to hear them coming from someone who you would think would know better. In addition, he would word his questions in such a way that I am not sure if he was intentionally trying to be unclear, or if he genuinely had difficulty formulating the questions (I will provide an example below). Any time I would answer a question he would smirk and tilt or shake his head in an extremely unprofessional and condescending manner to the point I actually considered leaving in the middle of the interview which I have never done before. At the end of the interview we stood up, and one of the other interviewers showed me around before walking me to the elevator. I would strongly advise against interviewing with this company unless you are ready to have an extremely unprofessional, condescending, and uncomfortable experience.
