      Technical Support Engineer Interview

      Mar 4, 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Leanplum (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2018

      Interview

Take-home assignment asking questions about the product, some of the questions don't have a correct answer -their just picking your brain to see how you think. Chat via google hangouts, testing your ability to follow directions and your basic understanding of the product. An on-site interview where you bring to the onsite interview an ios or android app that you built. The app is simple, a button that changes the background color. They hook the app up to their product and ask you basic questions about how it works and what it's doing. Not too hard. The hiring manager is a micro-manager who says he takes a hands-off approach but as soon as I had a conversation with him I got the feeling that this guy likes to be up in your personal business. He frequently will interrupt you mid-sentence. The recruiter was also unprofessional. He walked me out of the office and said we will let you know at the end of the week. After a phone-screen, take home challenge, google hangout conference call, onsite interview, never heard from LeanPlum again. The atmosphere of the office is gear towards an older crowd too. Not a place someone in their twenties would have fun working at.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Leanplum (San Francisco, CA) in Dec 2017

      Interview

First round is the initial screen test to see your approach towards solving customer issues. Few questions are general with respect to technical support and few are very specific to their product. This is followed by a technical screening on API knowledge, questions from your resume and about your experience. Then, I was called for on on-site for half a day meeting 3 different people (Customer success manager, hiring manager, technical support engineer). During the on-site interview, you would be asked to build an android application using leanplum's SDK.

      Interview

There was a initial phone screening round followed by a screening test. The screening test was fairly easy. You just need to show how careful and caring you are towards the customers. If you pass, you will be called for a telephonic technical round.
