I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Kmart (North Hollywood, CA) in Sep 2011
Interview
I got the call for the interview about 2 weeks after I applied, the interview appointment was a week later and yet another week later I had the job. I didn't have a regular interview she basically confirmed my schedule, asked if I was good at math, and if I had cashier or sales experience. When it was it over she told me I could start as soon as the received the drug test results. They probably would have hired me even if I wasn't good at math, they were so desperate for cashiers.

Question 1
I had very few questions so I guess the most unexpected one was "Are you good at math?" since I've actually never been asked that at a job interview.

Interview
Drug Test, lot's of questions about what kinds of experiences you had that would help you in the role if you've never worked as a cashier or have a non existent resume
It was mostly online, and about an hour long. You have to fill out a lot of questions about how you feel about topics (mostly pertaining to work ethic and integrity) along a spectrum. Then you do a video-game like interview where you pretend to interact with customers. Finally, you interview in person.

I waited at customer service and told them I had a interview. I went in a room with a lady and asked my capabilities. Told me the requirements for the job and gave me my paper work to get hired.
