How do I handle conflict?

My answer was quite easy as I had just come across this recently. My current company took away answering customers via email. Which was my main source of contact. I met with my then Manager and provided the reasons for emailing. Tracking conversations, material/requests are in writing, it's faster as the customer is able to research, then get back to me as opposed to researching while I hold, etc...
