      Program Manager Interview

      Apr 24, 2012
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Grainger in Jan 2012

      Interview

Most internal interviews are more of an interrogation than an interview. In this case the group/panel seemed fair and well run. Here is the problem. I'm not sure why they bothered to go to the expense of flying and putting me up when they already knew who they were going to hire. Turns out the person they hired had been through management training with the hiring manager. This was a done deal. The only thing I can figure was they felt it necessary to put on a show to prevent the appearance of hiring for whom they know versus what you know. I asked for feedback from several people on the panel at later dates in order to understand what I could work on to better prepare for the next opportunity and was literally told, "Nothing". They said I did great; I just needed to know more people.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They were just interested in hearing about my qualifications and how they would apply to the position. Standard stuff.
