      Associate Scientist, QC Biologics Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Gilead Sciences (Foster City, CA) in May 2024

      Interview

Writing this review because this specific job was posted 3x in the last 3 months. I applied online in April and got automated emails from the senior recruiter to schedule an interview, but the link they sent kept showing that all interview slots were taken. Emails to the recruiter to schedule the interview went ignored. After about 2 weeks of this glitch, I got a new automated email with a working link and scheduled the phone interview with the recruiter. It was about 20min and the recruiter just mainly screens your background to see how well it matches the job description. After about a week I was emailed an invitation from the scheduler to set up 3 individual Zoom interviews with different directors. Initially it was 4 but they changed it to 3 interviews after further confirmation. Two of the 3 directors were professional and nice, but the third and most important one for the job, the QC Director, was distracted in the beginning of the interview and mumbled to the point you can barely hear him. All 3 couldn’t tell me the specifics or the day to day of the job, claiming it’s a new role and it’ll be like a startup environment where you’re expected to help wherever help is needed. I left the interviews feeling that their QC department was currently an organizational mess. None of the interviewers also knew the next steps claiming the company doesn’t fill them in on the interview process, but one assumed there’s a third round of Zoom interviews. I emailed the recruiter for the next steps in the process and asked him to forward individual thank you notes I had written to all three of my interviewers but never got a response and was essentially ghosted. Based on other reviews here, it seems that’s how the interview process generally works at Gilead. You just don’t hear back unless you get an offer. Definitely disappointing for a respected company.
