Show up, introduce yourself to the area managers, and read a few rounds. It usually takes place at a bar or a restaurant and is like an open mic format. Sometimes people there will heckle you. It's part of the gig. Nothing too critical or serious - but the crowd wants to see if you're sociable and of a reasonable personality.
