I received an email response to my application basically saying that they were screening applicants and asked how much money I wanted. This came off as very arrogant and tacky and translated to, 'Hey we only want to interview the cheapest candidates.' I never wasted my time to respond, but wanted to post here to share for others. If budget is a concern, then just state the range you are offering for the position. Never ask someone what their target salary is before even having a phone conversation with them.
