Re: consensus building - We aim to hire for strength rather than lack of weakness, so we don't require a consensus of all yes votes. Instead, we're looking for someone to advocate strongly for the candidate and to walk away from the interview with a really clear picture of "What is this person amazing at?"
Regarding our salaries, we seek to pay market salary. Many companies in the Bay Area consistently out bid other companies. Someone will always pay more. We'd rather prioritize making Flexport a great place to work through a great mission, autonomy, amazing colleagues, and take good care of our team (lunch, competitive benefits, books for days, intellectually challenging work, global rotations).
