      Senior Data Architect, ETL Interview

      Jun 12, 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at FIS (New York, NY) in Jun 2025

      Interview

I applied to this position via LinkedIn and was contacted by a recruiter. Before the first interview, I was asked to respond to a long list of questions over email. The first round with the hiring manager was a 30-minute behavioral interview, which seemed normal and professional. A few days later, I was scheduled for a second round, which was described as a technical interview. However, I became concerned when I saw that it was only 30 minutes long and involved three interviewers. I reached out to the recruiter to confirm whether this was a mistake, but received no response. At the start of the interview, I asked the interviewers directly and was told that the 30-minute format was intentional. Unfortunately, the session felt superficial and lacked technical depth. I left the interview with the impression that it may not have been a genuine evaluation of my qualifications. It felt more like a procedural step than a serious hiring effort. Based on the experience, I suspect the company may have already had a candidate in mind and was simply going through the motions to fulfill labor certification requirements. If that’s the case, it's deeply disappointing—especially for qualified U.S. candidates like myself who took the process seriously. While I can’t know the company’s intentions for certain, the experience left me feeling that my time and effort were not respected. I hope others have a more transparent and meaningful interview process.
