      Software Engineer Co-Op Interview

      Jan 28, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Datto

      Interview

Overall, the experience felt very impersonal but the interview was easy. First it was the recruiter phone screen + a technical interview, it's multiple choice on basic programming knowledge. And then after passing that round, they tested my logical reasoning. And then the next round is talking with the hiring manager. This part was the most negative experience. The hiring manager was so unenthusiastic and even though the interview is behavioral, the manager was looking for a certain type of answer. I didn't answer the questions the way the manager wanted because in the end I was told how the question should be answered and got a rejection email.

      Software Engineer Co-Op Interview

      Sep 23, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Troy, NY
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Datto (Troy, NY) in Sep 2019

      Interview

30 minute technical interview going over programming concepts like object-oriented programming, design, and analysis, and 1 data structures question about a linked list. Two engineers asking questions. Asked questions about how you would handle a certain problem or process. Overall felt kind of rushed.

      Software Engineer Co-Op Interview

      Oct 10, 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Datto

      Interview

The interviewers were fairly laid back and definitely not too intimidating. Seemed like they were more interested in exposing my strengths than my weaknesses. They did not give me any sort of live coding example although I've heard that others were given one. In the beginning of my interview I was asked all about my background and experiences including favorite languages and projects I've worked on. Then they moved on to some pretty standard object oriented questions just to make sure I knew the basics of CS. After that they just wanted me to ask a ton of questions, which you should definitely have prepared for them. All in all it wasn't a bad interview at all and you shouldn't be worried about it. Just study your object oriented concepts the night before.

      Answer question
