Chronicle Books interview questions

I had a total of two interviews. One with a senior manager in the department, and then another with the hiring manager and a peer team member. For the second interview, I was tasked with drafting a sample campaign for a given title. Both interviews went very well, everyone I spoke with was warm and friendly, gave positive feedback on my campaign, talked up their management styles, and indicated that I’d hear back within a couple weeks about next steps. After six weeks of silence and multiple follow ups on my end, I think it’s safe to say that Chronicle has ghosted me. This is sadly a normal enough occurrence in the job market, but I was particularly surprised in this instance because it felt like such a 180 from the interactions I had during the interviews. Hiring managers, if you want to attract and retain strong candidates, the least you can do is have a basic level of respect for their time and actually communicate with them!

Casual and enjoyable. The interview was not very memorable and rather average. Provided an overview of the clients, team, and responsibilities of the position. The interviewer could have spent less time talking about Chronicle and more time understanding the experience and knowledge of the person they were interviewing and approaching to consider applying for the role. No call back after the first interview or email response back after sending an email thanking the hiring manager for their time. No email for rejection either.
