      Marketing Interview

      Feb 22, 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Sydney
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Canon (Sydney) in Dec 2016

      Interview

The interview process took about 2 months in total. I had three interviews in total. First interview went well. I was asked to go to the second interview. Prior to that I had to complete various behaviour & IQ tests. In addition was given 4 assessments I had to present in the second interview. This went exceptionally well. I was given a verbal offer & they conducted my references. (Whereby they asked for a reference from my current employer! Really? You haven't even given me an offer in writing... thank God I did not listen to you because as it turned out you were not true to your word). Despite seeing the horrendous negative reviews online I persisted. They then wanted me to come in for 1 final interview with another manager from a different department. When I met him I knew immediately the role was not for me & the negative reviews about this place being a boy's club materialised. It was meant to be a casual interview but sprung another test where I had to edit an article and write a profile. I was put on the spot & knew I didn't perform my best. They called 3 days later & said they changed their mind because I had mistakes in one of the articles. Frankly, sounds like an excuse. This company is not in a fast-paced industry whereby an article must be submitted in 30 minutes. The fact of the matter is that the employee would have days to turn around an article. They were assessing me for a completely different company it seems. If turning around press releases in 30 minutes is a mandatory for this job then this test should have been part of the second step. NOT after your references have been called. The job was for the printer division - honestly, how many urgent issues arise whereby a press release must be pushed out immediately? Eg "warning - printers recalled as they take over the world?!" Ha- I don't think so, Canon! The truth is, I had already accepted an offer from another company earlier that week. I knew after the third interview the company was not for me. I am writing this review because not only should others be warned, but you as a company need to improve your processes. You need to respect people's time and plan your tests / assessments ahead of time.

      Interview

Très facile avec les managers en poste, pour un stage. Les managers étaient super sympa, très compréhensives, malgré tout le travail qu'elles ont, elles prennent le temps de bien faire les entretiens.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Canon (New York, NY)

      Interview

Absolute waste of time. They have a million different recruitment agencies looking to fill roles. I have been contacted by at least 20 different talent agencies about roles here. It always ends the same they deny my application no matter what role I am submitted for. Even though, it has been months since I applied, I dont even think they HM is looking at resumes and if they are if you do not have every single qualification they're looking for you dont even get a chance to interview.
