I interviewed at Beacon Press for the Editorial Assistant Role. The interview process was roughly three weeks. There was an initial phone interview with on of the editors, who I really connected with.
I was asked to come into their office for an in-person interview. I met with the editor I had previously talked to along with another who I would also be supporting in the job. We talked for over an hour and they told me I was one of their top candidates for the posistion. I was under the impression (partially my own fault) that I had sealed the job. I left the interview with them saying they would contact me within a week with news.
I waited for a phone call, but instead was send a brief email that said they had decided to go with another candidate, with no other feedback. I responded and politely inquired for feedback, so I could use it going forward for other interviews. No response.
I was mostly dissapointed in the lack of feedback after recieving the rejection email. Beacon is a highly coveted place to work in the Boston publishing world, so I have no doubt the other candidates were just as strong as I.
